Stay at
Duntry

The historic Duntryleague Guesthouse, built in 1876, is located within the botanical gardens of Duntryleague’s 18 Hole Championship Golf Course. It offers 14 accommodation rooms with ensuite bathrooms, ranging from master suites to smaller guest suites, ideal for families and groups. Additionally, the Margaret Dalton Lodge, a self-contained three-bedroom flat, is available for couples, groups, and families. All rooms feature essential amenities such as a television, refrigerator, hairdryer, and tea/coffee facilities. Please note that due to the mansion’s design, there is no disabled access to the guesthouse, though the lodge offers ground-floor accessibility. The building’s age adds to its charm, with the occasional creaky step or floorboard.

The name Duntryleague, which James Dalton Snr named his property, was taken from his birthplace near Galbally in County Limerick and means “The Fort of the Three Pillar Stones”. King Cormack (who was King of Munster in the 11th Century) was mortally wounded there and they raised the pillar stones around him as a memorial. The place was originally spelt Doon-tri-liag.
