Ladies February Newsletter

What a different beginning to the year. No fires nearby,  no dust storms and magnificent grass on the fairways. Let’s hope that we can also say no COVID.

  1. SUMMER POINTS COMPETITION sponsored by Maria Crawford was well contested with the final winner Kerry Kidd with 40 points. Thank you Maria and well done Kerry.
  2. CONSISTENCY COMPETITION SPONSORED by the pro shop was also well contested. Winner was Jo Hunter and runner up was Wendy Reid. It was great to see more women playing golf during December and January. Golf always continues, the committee just have a rest.
  3. OPENING DAY 2021. What a wonderfully successful day and the weather was perfect. We had 104 women playing 18 holes and it was great to see so many visitors especially from Wentworth Golf Club / Ex-Services supporting our day. A big thank you to everyone who worked on the day. The Division 1 winner was Lou Stevens with a stroke score 0f 80. Division 2 winner was Sally Gordon, Division 3  Barbara Chapman and Division 4 Margaret Ogilvy.  The raffles were all donated and raised over  $600, so thank you to the Ladies Committee, Sam Pasquali, Michelle Paul and Carol Hughes. Peter Roan Financial was once again our valued sponsor.
  4. FRONT GARDEN – What a wonderful addition to the front of the clubhouse. The garden design is thanks to Ruth Swift and I am looking forward to seeing all the red azaleas in full bloom. Ruth and Jim Swift and Bron Ryan generously donated the plants.  Thank you.
  5. Pauline unfortunately has had an operation on her foot and will be out of action for a few weeks. In the meantime, Cheryl will be filling her shoes. We wish her a speedy recovery.
  6. CONGRATULATIONS to Sam Pasquali who is now Assistant Pro having completed his studies.
  7. BIRDIES – this year we will only be running the Birdies and not the Gobblers competition. This way you will not have to remember to fill in sheets. The Birdies can be checked through the pro shop so if you forget you are still in the running. Virginia and Alison are keen to continue sponsoring the event.
  8. PUTTING COMPETITION on Monthly Medal Days will recommence next week. There will be a sheet for you to record your putts. No need to record the score if there is already a better score in your grade. Thank you for your cooperation and to Janis for continuing to sponsor the competition.
  9. THURSDAY GOLF – for a change we are going to trial having a different event once a month. It will be on the first available Thursday of the month, The first will be on the 11th March and will be a 4BBB. Organise a partner or just put your name in the draw and I am sure someone will join.
  10. Tuesday 2nd March will not be the Vets Classic Tournament due to changes in planning. It will be a stableford event on that day.
  11. RAFFLE – we will continue with the $2 box in the pro shop until we are able to sell tickets again.
