December Ladies Newsletter

What a year it has been. One that we will always remember and will certainly go down in history. I think as a sporting group it has cemented why we play the game of golf. The friendships formed as we play the challenging game of golf make it all worthwhile.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Closing day sponsored by GIO Orange Richard and Cheryl Bennett once again was very successful with  91 players. We were fortunate to be able to open up the dining room area so people could stay and we could have a presentation. Lots of visitors helped to add to the fun of the day. Division 1 was won by a very excited Jo Hunter scoring 79 of the stick. Her first time scoring under 80. Well done Jo. Division 2 scratch winner was Judy Royal with  95. Division 3 winner Barbara Chapman with 101 and Division 4 winner Lesley Williams with 114. Congratulations to all the winners on the day.
  • Christmas Cheer- what a great day with everyone dressed for a fun day. It was wonderful to be able to have a shotgun start and the easing of restrictions meant we could all be together in the one room for lunch. We certainly had a great celebratory day. Thank you to the sponsors Kevin and Elaine Cusack for the hams and to Angullong wines and Hattie for the wine.  The  lucky ham winners were Marg Shannon, Carol Reynolds, Ann Burcher and Wendy Brown with 92 points. Runners up were Michelle Paul, Margot Sullivan. Jo Sangster and Nerida McAndrew with 86 points. The best dress winners were Kez Brett, Sue Harris, Jane Weisner and Helen O’Neill who were presented with unique gifts that we are sure they will treasure.
  • On Christmas Cheer  Day we thanked and farewelled  Erana Swain and Maria  Crawford for their wonderful contribution  to the committee and the club. Maria’s has over the time been on the committee for 20 years so is certainly due for a rest. The committee sang ( sort of) a song marking her involvement- “How do we Replace a Worker Like Maria”. Thank you to the staff for a lovely lunch and for all your  hard work during the year.
  • The new committee for 2021 is –
President Pauline Jani
Vice President Cheryl Bennett
Captain Gay Stone
Vice Captain Kerry Kidd
Secretary Val Durack
Treasurer Lisa McDonald
Committee Sally Gordon, Sally Heigh and Ros Davis

The committee looks forward to another great year and welcome Sally Heigh and Ros Davis to the team.

Although the committee has a rest for the next few months please be assured that golf continues uninterrupted. The  Consistency Cup sponsored by the club with generous prizes has already started. The prizes are awarded over the best 5 rounds that you play. Then the Summer Points Comp. sponsored by Maria then starts. See you on the course.

A big thank you to all the generous sponsors who have supported ladies golf throughout the year to enable us to have a varied program of events.

Best wishes to everyone for a peaceful Christmas and a great 2021.

Happy days. Happy golf.  Val
