DIRECTOR OF GOLF / HEAD PROFESSIONAL – DUNTRYLEAGUE (Orange NSW)

Duntryleague is one of Australia’s great golfing destinations and is situated in the centre of Orange, New South Wales.

Perfect for any time of year, Orange is a thriving regional city as rich in heritage as it is in award-winning restaurants, boutique shops, magnificent gardens and bustling markets. Famed for its rich produce-yielding soils, cool-climate wines and spectacular scenery, this gateway to Country NSW boasts excellent education and health facilities.

This famous Australian Golf Club is looking for expressions of interest for an enthusiastic and committed person as Director of Golf to run all aspects of the Golf Operations and associated services by either a contractual agreement (as a contractor) or through direct employment by Duntryleague. The successful applicant will need to have strong focus on providing excellent customer service to Duntryleague Members and their guests.

Duntryleague has in excess of 1,000 golfing members and a similar amount of social members with 25,000 competition rounds played and total rounds in excess of 40,000 per annum.

Duntryleague has made significant improvements to the golf facilities in recent years including fairway drainage, tee and fairway upgrades, improved cart path network and an ever increasing cart fleet of 25 vehicles.

Reporting to the Secretary Manager, the Director of Golf will be an integral member of the senior leadership team responsible for the effective management of all Golf Operations including member services, golf shop sales and staff management. This is a senior role with excellent working conditions and represents a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the golf department resources in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
  • Implement Club procedures and work cohesively with Club Management and Committees.
  • Management of all golf operations, including member, public and corporate golf rounds.
  • Development and implementation of merchandising budgets and sales plans.
  • Manage all aspects of retail golf supplier contracts.
  • Maintain the Pro Shop at a high standard of presentation and provide a range of golf equipment and apparel.
  • Recruitment, training and rostering of golf operations staff.
  • Management of timesheets/competitions/result reporting.
  • Management of motorised cart fleet including cleaning, storage and maintenance.
  • Develop and oversee golf instruction, competitive golf fixtures, pennants, clinics and player development programs.
  • Yearly Planning – Prepare and regularly review the business plan for golf operations.

Personal Attributes:

  • Demonstrated management experience displaying strong business acumen and senior experience in Golf facility operations.
  • Excellent personal presentation, communication and interpersonal skills with a high regard for service culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a successful and profitable golf retail operation.
  • Flexibility in work hours with weekend work essential to this role.
  • PGA Professional accreditation will be considered positively but is not essential.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate, multi-task and complete work assignments within deadlines.

The successful applicant will enjoy a vibrant club atmosphere and an appropriate remuneration package. Some teaching opportunities may be available but are not integral to the primary role.

Full-time Chef

This is a hands-on position requiring a person with a passion for the hospitality industry.

You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and work as part of a strong team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum two years experience in a similar roles is essential
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications is essential
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Previous function/events menu experience an advantage but not essential
  • Must be able to work a rotating roster that includes breakfast, lunch and/or dinner shifts and some split shifts
  • Available for both weekday and weekend work
  • Works well under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and a team player

These are hands-on positions. You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and work as part of a strong team.

The work involves:

Preparing all the food for halfway house Wednesday and Saturday.

Making sandwiches, rolls, wraps.

Cleaning dishes and other general kitchen cleaning.

Split shifts will be involved.

Essential Criteria:

  • Available to work every Wednesday and Saturday mornings is essential
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Available for both weekday and weekend work
  • Strong communication skills and a team player
